Scrap dealer

1.55 pm today Tuesday 20 April 2010. We were walking towards home, probably at level of 15 Station Road when S heard a large vehicle stopping behind us. She looked round and saw it was a white cab flat back with some scaffolding and other items in the flat back pulling off Station Road into the access road at the front of 17 + Station Road houses.
2.00 pm we arrived home in Cotters Croft and at 2.07 pm there was a loud knock at our front door. F answered the door. (Labels on our front door state that doorstep callers are not welcome as we do not buy. We now realise that it would be worth finding labels that also say we do not sell to callers and that anyone without an appointment is not welcome ... to discourage such callers as we have just had.). There was a tall young man, athletic build with dark hair short back and sides, wearing a track suite type outfit with black bottoms and pale grey/white stripes down side of leg, pale grey/white jacket with dark stripe/s down sleeve. He asked "Any scrap metal?" F said "No". The gentleman walked away from our house on our side of road towards numbers 10-18 end of Cotters Croft. We went upstairs to look to see if we could link him with any vehicle. At 2.12 pm we saw the same vehicle described in paragraph above seen at 1.55 pm. This vehicle drove out of the end of Cotters Croft from numbers 4-8 and turned left from Cotters Croft onto the High Street. Registration number of this vehicle was R986 YJW; there were 3 people in the cab, one wearing a lightweight yellow fluorescent visibility jacket. This was definitely the same vehicle as described in paragraph above; it was a white cabbed flat back with the scaffolding and other items in the flat back.
